Years in the Making: Cam & Hannah’s Ellicott Square Building Engagement

There is an undeniable magic in documenting a couple over the years, watching their dynamic evolve, capturing the different chapters through new homes and children. Hannah came to me and she knew we wanted a setting that felt as grand and timeless as their journey together. She chose to enter downtown Buffalo’s historic Ellicott Square Building. Surrounded by stunning architectural detail, soaring ironwork, and rich marble, we spent the session creating portraits that felt both effortlessly modern and beautiful.

Every time I get Cam & Hannah in front of my lens, it's just so much fun. Between the moody light and their natural connection, this session easily became one of my absolute favorites of theirs to date. I can't wait to capture their wedding next September!

Your Story

How did you two meet?

We knew each other sophomore year of high school & went on a double date. I went with his friend and he went with mine, but the whole time we wanted each other instead and never did anything about it. Freshman year of college in 2017, I messaged him on Instagram asking if he remembered me and that I thought he was cute! He said yes, and we exchanged numbers & hung out less than a week later!

When did you realize you were falling in love?

We both felt it during our first date. We couldn’t wait to see each other again after hanging out and knew that it would turn into something long-term. It was something we’ve never felt before

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Hannah’s - How much he cares for me and his family, how much he makes me laugh, and how great of a father he is to our two boys.

Cam’s - That she is extremely loyal, and that she loves me for me.

What do you love doing together when it’s just the two of you?

We like to go on mini golf dates!

The Proposal

Tell me the story of your proposal! Where were you, and how did it happen?

We got engaged on my first Mother’s Day, down at the marina in Buffalo! We went to a brunch for Mother’s Day and went by the water to “take pictures” of our family and that’s when he proposed!

Was the proposal a complete surprise, or did you have an idea it was coming?

I had no idea it was coming, our first born was only 5 months old and I did not think that a proposal was happening that day!

Was there anything especially meaningful about the location, date, or details of the proposal?

The marina is one of my favorite spots, and I always loved going there as a little girl. That’s why Cam chose that spot and Mother’s Day is such a special day already but now it holds even more meaning!

 Your Engagement Session

What made you choose this location for your engagement session?

I thought the Ellicott Square building was such a beautiful spot, especially for engagement pictures. We wanted the pictures to be something we’ve never done before and we wanted them to be classy and romantic and Gabby nailed that!

Is there a special memory, place, or meaning connected to this location?

Nope! Just that it was a perfect spot for the vibe we wanted!

How did you decide what to wear for your session?

I went through a few dress options, but knew I wanted something satin. I also love pearls so the open back with pearls was the perfect touch! For cam, he wanted to match my vibe and look classy!

How did you feel during the session? Nervous, excited, playful, romantic, comfortable, a little bit of everything?

We felt so romantic and confident during the whole session! We have done shoots with Gabby before and she always makes it so comfortable

What was your favorite part about the session or the images?

We loved the elevator pictures and the ones of us on the big staircases! The details in the building are incredible and it made the pictures look even more beautiful.

Just for Fun

Who said “I love you” first?

Cameron did!

Who is more romantic?

Hannah is!

Who takes longer to get ready?

Definitely Hannah

What is one little thing your partner does that always makes you smile?

Hugs & forehead kisses!
