Shooting my first elopement in the Arizona desert was nothing short of magic, and it meant even more because it was with a couple I’ve had the honor of documenting through some of life’s most tender milestones—their maternity session, newborn portraits, and family photos. Getting to witness them begin their marriage journey, just the two of them in the middle of nowhere, was beyond beautiful. There was something so raw about the desert—a quiet, romantic stillness that made every moment feel sacred. We were surrounded by golden light and spiky cacti (yes, I may have gotten a few pricks along the way), and it was completely worth every second. The sun dipped behind the mountains, casting everything in the kind of glow that photographers dream about. It created some fun silhouettes, and we stayed to enjoy blue hour and some fun flashy moments. It was intimate, unfiltered, and truly unforgettable—an experience I’ll always be grateful for.
Before the vows
What were your first impressions of one another? Colton-“She’s way out of my league” Julia- “He’s cute and fun to hang out with”
How did the proposal happen? We went to Allegheny State Park for a date and Colton proposed on the bridge that we had our first kiss.
What do you love most about each other? Colton- Her kindness and compassion. Julia- His personality and sense of humor.
What are some things you enjoy doing together as a couple? Camping, traveling, watching sunsets, and trying new restaurants.
An Intimate ‘I Do’: Our Elopement Story
Why did you decide to elope? We felt it would be a meaningful and personal experience. It allowed us to truly enjoy the moment without the pressure of planning or hosting a traditional wedding.
How did you choose your destination? We wanted a dreamy western desert vibes-we got married between two massive cacti in the middle of Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona. It was everything we imagined and more.
What was the most important thing to you when planning the elopement? We were searching for a warm, beautiful place out west, and the moment we saw the saguaro cacti, we fell in love. There was something magical about the desert that just felt right for us.
Where did you go (or are planning to go) for your honeymoon? Planning to visit Greece!
Dressed for forever
How did you choose your wedding attire? Embracing a western glam vibe, Julia’s dress was detailed and beaded, while Colton’s earth-toned suit was paired with a classic cowboy hat.
Did your outfits or accessories have any special meaning? Not exactly— we’re both simply drawn to the western aesthetic.

What were your favorite moments captured on camera? Some of our favorite moments were the elopement ceremony nestled between two towering saguaro cacti, the stunning veil shots, and the relaxed, natural photos that felt completely effortless.
How did it feel to relive your day through the photos? It was such an amazing feeling, like reliving that moment all over again. We really loved how the photos captured our vision Thank you so much again, we truly loved every second of working with you!
